Smeed Communication Services has a long standing dedication to be the leaders of technology to the community for all things sound, internet, telephone, and cloud related.
The family owned company was first started by Glenn and Betty Smeed in Eugene, Oregon in 1946 as Smeed Sound Service. Smeed made a name for itself by providing rental sound systems for dances and social events. As time progressed, Smeed was known for successfully installing custom Hi-Fi and Intercom systems in homes throughout the 1950’s, and later evolved into the installation of Intercom and Paging systems to lumber mills, businesses, and retail facilities. In 1976 with the breakup of the bell system, Smeed installed one of the first privately owned telephone systems in Eugene to a large law firm.
In 1980, Glenn and Betty retired and sold their business to their two sons, Glenn Jr. and Paul. Both sons spent significant time working for the family business in all aspects, and they had a firm understanding of audio, video, and telecommunications systems. It was at this time the name changed from “Smeed Sound Service” to “Smeed Communication Services” to reflect the broader range of products and services now available.
Smeed Communication Services has expanded to providing reliable, high technology cloud, internet, telecommunications, and sound services to many businesses, government agencies, schools, churches, and other private organizations across the region. As Smeed continues to grow and expand, it makes a strong point to maintain the values and roots of a family owned business.
Today the business is owned and operated by Paul Smeed and a highly qualified team. Everyone at Smeed Communication Services is happy to help you and help bring the most trusted and up to date systems to your business.
